Urban Ministry

By: David Claerbaut
Urban Ministry was written in the 1980's. The book is out of date with current culture in the city. The book does bring up some difficulties that are faced by inner city dwellers they are at this point not all true. The book also presents the premises that a person will not listen to the message with out first knowing that the person cares about the person. I fall on the belief that the message that the person brings holds more weight than the person who brings the message. Helping out the inner city is of course a noble ambition and this book will give some good ideas, but it does not have to come before the gospel. the writer's heart may be in the good place, but needs to look deeper in to Scripture to back their assertions. I do not recommend this read only because their are books out there that cover the same material with up to date information and better biblical basis presented.

About Author: Dr. David Calerbaut is a subject matter expert in urban ministry due to living in Chicago and currently being chairmen of the Department of Sociology Anthropology. He is also Associate Professor of Sociology and Psychology at north Park College.
